Staff Manufacturing Engineer — Space Systems
Job Description
Staff Manufacturing Engineer - Space Systems
Own low-volume/high-mix production for launch vehicles and spacecraft engines. You'll be the bridge between development and manufacturing-driving DFM/DFA, first-article builds, production test, and continuous improvement across complex flight hardware.
What you'll do
Lead DFM from design release through ATP: define build flow for quality, speed, and scalability.
Represent Manufacturing in cross-functional design reviews; down-select feasible concepts.
Build and maintain mBOMs, CONOPS, and schedules through development.
Create clear work instructions, specs, and best practices; standardize processes.
Stand up new manufacturing capabilities and capital equipment; resolve conflicting requirements.
Train and support technicians; write detailed process plans.
Own issue management: track failure modes, drive RCA/CA, verify closures.
Solve non-conformances; develop sustainable repairs.
Define/execute production testing (incl. high-pressure gas systems) to hit rate targets.
Adapt quickly to evolving design and production challenges.
Job Requirements
What you bring
5+ years taking electro-mechanical designs from concept → test → production.
Strong DFM/DFA, capacity modeling, process mapping, and fault analysis.
CAD + GD&T proficiency; able to communicate clearly to engineers, techs, and leadership.
Spacecraft/launch vehicle familiarity (education and/or on-the-job).
First-principles problem solving, crisp trade studies, and bias to action under pressure.
Willingness for occasional extended hours; comfortable working hands-on on the floor.
BS in EE/ME/Aero/related (or +4 years experience in lieu of degree).
Bonus: Low/medium-volume production, RCCA/PFMEA/QMS/SPC, controls/automation, and Python.
Compensation: $155,000-$187,000 base salary per year.
