Job Description

Seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for designing custom machinery in SolidWorks with quality, accuracy, and timeliness.The candidate in this role will create 3D models and fabrication drawings for custom machinery including frames, tanks, piping, exhaust systems, automated hoists, and mechanisms with pneumatic and/or electric actuators. This position is for someone who has excellent communication skills and can collaborate with various engineering departments as well as sales and purchasing to ensure that the Fabrication and Assembly departments have the necessary tools, material and information.

Responsibilities: 
  • Review proposals and preliminary drawings 
  • Visit shop floor to review fabrication, assembly and installation progress for projects 
  • Act as quality control and answers any questions to keep projects on time 
  • Acts as an effective liaison between vendors and the Engineering team 
  • Explains the clients' specifications and needs to vendors and explores different material options and pricing 
  • Manage projects from start to finish with increased efficiency and autonomy 
  • Work with Project Managers and Project Engineers 
  • Shows attentiveness to clients' design specifications 
  • Review's workload of Mechanical Engineers 
  • Brainstorms ideas for assigning design tasks that are best suited for particular team members 
  • Helps train new engineers on processes and procedures for designing complex machinery 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • 10+ years' experience designing and detailing machinery within manufacturing, industrial heavy machinery or related industry required 
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks/simulation required
  • Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and BOM's required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office required
  • Openness to learn something new in a fast-paced environment required
  • Proven ability to be troubleshooting and problem solving with a strong sense of urgency, initiative and drive required
  • Ability to oversee system installation and troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions required
  • Master's in Mechanical Engineering a plus
  • Experience designing a wide variety of products with heavy industrial steel, plastics, and various components and materials a plus
  • Experience with Process and Instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) a plus
  • Knowledge of industrial safety and OSHA standards a plus
  • Steel frame, plastic fabrication, and sheet metal experience a plus

Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000
