Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Sr. Electrical Engineer for a leading worldwide provider of nanosatellite and microsatellite vehicles, services, and solutions to Commercial and Government customers. As a Sr. Electrical Engineer, the candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative spacecraft solutions for internal and external customers.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Low-level schematic design. Common projects involve implementing digital systems; distributed power regulation & control circuits; and system interface hardware using commercially available ASICs and processors.
  • Complete methodical schematic and PCB layout peer reviews and rigorous documentation of results and comments.
  • Hardware requirements generation, verification and validation.
  • Creation of electrical block diagrams, architecture diagrams, schematics, circuit analysis, and design presentations.
  • Maintenance of existing schematic designs including tailoring and modifications
  • Collaboration with software, mechanical and system engineers to develop optimal solutions to complex problems including thermal management, layout support, and harness design and routing
  • Development of custom test interface hardware.
  • Development of assembly procedures, test plans, and fabrication documentation.
  • Cooperative debug, test and requirement verification activities.
  • Contribute towards continuous technology and process improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Requirements:
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years of experience of embedded hardware development experience (Aerospace-specific experience is preferred)
  • Skilled in analog circuits, switching power supplies, and SPICE simulation
  • Knowledge of common data bus peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet).
  • Competency with standard test equipment: oscilloscope, power supply, multi-meter, logic analyzer.
  • Ability to rework circuit boards with surface mount technology.
  • System debug skills.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout (preferably Altium).
  • Knowledge of PCB layout best practices.
  • Meticulous design documentation, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to provide and receive constructive criticism.
  • To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Desired Skills/Experience
  • Master's degree in engineering or related technical discipline preferred
  • Some coding and debug of embedded microcontrollers in C/C++
  • Experience with FPGA hardware and HDL languages (VHDL Preferred)
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGA toolset
  • Some exposure to RF system design and test

Physical Demands:
This is largely a sedentary role with heavy computer usage. Position may require incumbent to move files, open filing cabinets and bend/stand as necessary.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Salary Pay: $140,000 - $160,000
