Job Description
A fantastic opportunity for a mid- to senior level Plumbing Engineer with the experience in the design of Mechanical systems for new buildings and renovations. This position will be based from our Irvine, or Long Beach, CA offices. Candidates must have project management experience and be willing to lead projects from all perspectives including technically, administratively and financially.
Job Requirements
Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Current OSHPD /HCAI experience
- CPD registration (must be current and clear)
- California P.E. registration preferred
- 7-15 years experience
Working Knowledge
- California Plumbing Code
- National Plumbing Code
- California Energy Code
- OSHPD codes, standards, PINS and CANS
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Revit a plus
- AutoCAD a plus
Pre-Design Engineering
- Initial and ongoing client contact
- Project proposals and budgeting
- Able to perform well within multiple project delivery methods (design build, design bid build, IPD, etc.)
- Performs field investigations
- Develops preconstruction lists
- Collaborates with client regarding schedule and deliverables
- Performs feasibilities studies
- Prepares schematic designs
Design Engineering
- Performs plumbing equipment selections
- Performs hydronic calculations
- Prepares piping layouts
- Prepares riser diagrams
- Creates book specifications
- Understands and utilizes CAD and Revit standards
- Has a working knowledge of Building Codes and Energy Standards
- Has a working knowledge of OSHPD Code and Regulations
- Has a working knowledge of medical gases
- Has the ability to read floor plans, sections and elevations, risers, details, schedules and specifications
- Possesses strong record-keeping and organizational skills
- Possesses a good sense of coordination and follows through. Able to collaborate with the entire design team
- Has the ability to use MS Office applications
- Develops feasibility studies
- Interprets plans, elevations, cutsheets
- Communicates and follows up with internal team and client
- Monitors and reports of project budget
Construction Administration
- Maintains a positive, solution-oriented approach
- Has creative and budget-oriented problem-solving skills
- Has effective and timely client responses
- Works with OSHPD/other AHJ field staff effectively
- Works with owners and contractors effectively
- Reviews and responds to RFIs
- Reviews and responds to submittals
- Performs construction progress and punch walks
- Prepares reports

$93,000 - $175,000 per year depending upon experience
