Job Description

We have an open position for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to be based in our office in Long Beach, CA.

As a competent Registered Professional Engineer, performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of design engineering to the assignment. Responsible for administering all phases of a project from proposal development through construction completion. Primary responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, specifications, and working drawings. Has authority to direct, control, and monitor all related activities.
Duties
  • Implementing fire protection engineering and design solutions on a variety of projects and facility types
  • Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems, as well as designing new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, fire alarm, and mass notification systems. In addition, providing analysis of classification of occupancy, partition/separation requirements, and means of egress provisions
  • Responsible for a comprehensive fire protection program which includes developing, implementing, and maintaining effective protocols and procedures for testing and maintenance
  • Perform field investigations of completed design to confirm installation accuracy and perform/witness acceptance testing/commissioning of fire suppression systems
  • Conduct building and fire code reviews and analysis
  • Design fire protection systems including fire alarm, sprinkler and special hazard systems

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • PE license in CA (preferably as a registered Fire Protection Engineer)
  • Bachelors or Master's in Fire Protection Engineering or other Engineering degree
  • Other certifications a plus
  • 10+ years of experience with fire protection design (preferably in a consulting role) Proficient with fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems
  • In depth knowledge of NFPA Standards and building codes
  • Proficient with fire sprinkler, fire suppression, and fire alarm system design
  • Must be able to lead project, detail oriented, and self-motivate with solid organization and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
