Public Outreach Specialist II
Airfield and Terminal Modernization Program (ATMP) - Roadways Project

Position Summary
We're seeking a highly skilled Public Outreach Specialist II to support the planning and execution of public and community outreach initiatives for the Airfield and Terminal Modernization Program (ATMP) Roadways Project. This role plays a critical part in promoting project goals and ensuring transparent, consistent communication with stakeholders and the public throughout all phases-from design through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, track, and report project activities, public inquiries, and community concerns
  • Provide strategic communication support for project-wide messaging and public engagement efforts
  • Implement the stakeholder engagement plan, including outreach tactics and relationship-building strategies
  • Proactively identify and manage contentious issues, developing responsive communication approaches
  • Draft and design presentations, briefing documents, notifications, and press releases
  • Oversee and update website content, including timely posting of project documents, schedules, FAQs, and announcements
  • Support the creation of social media content, including messaging, captions, and graphic elements
  • Develop and distribute FAQs, fact sheets, and other outreach materials
  • Coordinate logistics for media events, milestone celebrations, and press tours
  • Ensure effective communication flow to internal and external stakeholders
  • Partner with contractors to ensure compliance with communication standards
  • Lead organization of public outreach events, such as open houses, workshops, and public hearings
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all public-facing communications and engagement activities
  • Assist in connecting Metro's project team with local businesses, community groups, and the public

Technical Proficiencies
  • Proficiency in CMS platforms, email marketing tools, social media, and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
  • Experience using Benchmark email platform and Drupal CMS for managing public-facing websites

Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant public outreach, communications, or stakeholder engagement experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in written, visual, and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational abilities and effective multitasking in fast-paced environments
  • Background working with diverse communities, government agencies, and media outlets
  • Familiarity with construction project phases and public communications protocol
  • Proven ability to produce timely, accurate deliverables with a customer-service mindset
  • Prior experience operating within a construction office setting

Education & Training
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Planning, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline
  • Relevant certifications or licensure are highly desirable

Pay Rate Range: $75 - $80 DOE
