Project Manager - Earthworks

Our fast paced demolition company is a leading firm specializing in demo and grading for infrastructure and land development projects in Southern California. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality projects with a focus on safety, sustainability, and efficiency. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager with expertise in earthworks and grading to join our growing team.
Job Overview:
As a Project Manager specializing in earthworks and grading, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of earthmoving and grading operations for various projects. You will coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure the timely completion of projects while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution: Lead and manage earthworks and grading projects from inception through completion. Ensure all activities are executed on time, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications.
Budget and Cost Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, including forecasting, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost control measures are in place.
Team Leadership: Supervise and direct project teams, including engineers, field staff, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the project runs smoothly.
Site Management: Oversee day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring all work complies with safety standards, environmental regulations, and project requirements.
Procurement and Resource Management: Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and labor for grading and earthworks operations.
Quality Assurance: Monitor and enforce quality control on-site, ensuring that all work meets regulatory standards and client expectations.
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the earthworks and grading scope of work. Resolve issues as they arise to prevent delays.
Client Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, providing project updates and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project records, including contracts, change orders, progress reports, and other required documentation. Provide regular reports to senior management and clients.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to earthworks, grading, and construction operations.
Job Requirements
*Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
*Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management with a focus on earthworks and grading.
*Strong understanding of earthworks operations, grading techniques, and related construction processes.
*Proven experience managing budgets, schedules, and teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
*Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project).
*In-depth knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
*Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to problem-solve and make decisions under pressure.
*(PMP or other project management certifications are a plus.
Preferred Skills:
*Experience with large-scale land development or infrastructure projects.
*Familiarity with AutoCAD or other construction design software.
*Strong knowledge of heavy equipment and machinery used in earthworks and grading operations.
