Job Description

Our client is looking to hire a highly motivated Project Manager for our Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Pilot Project in Woodland, CA to help our team take the project from design to construction to operations and eventual scale-up of the technology to commercial implementation. The facility is built on our industry leading biomass gasification technology which will be upgraded to producing RNG during the pilot project which culminates in a three-year demonstration of producing pipeline-grade RNG on the California gas grid. The program is in partnership with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) and involves several other key suppliers of gas upgrading technology to be integrated during the project. We are looking for a foundational manager that can come on board and work with the engineering team and suppliers to construct the integrated facility, develop operating procedures, hire operating staff, and participate in the startup and operations of the plant.  

The Project Manager will coordinate with the engineering team, PG&E, and the suppliers to oversee the construction and commissioning of the facility. This will include the eventual development of procedures for operations of the RNG pilot plant from feedstock receiving to gas grid delivery to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They will develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. 

Responsibilities


*  Plan, organize, direct, and implement the construction of the RNG pilot facility by working with the West Biofuels engineering team, suppliers, PG&E and others.
*  Develop the operating procedures, staffing plan and organize the commissioning and operations of the RNG pilot facility with the support with the engineering team.
*  Help develop optimum day-to-day operations to keep the plant operating safely and efficiently
*  Maintain production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards
*  Be responsible for production output, preventative maintenance, and good communications with utility and feedstock suppliers
*  Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
*  Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
*  Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
*  Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
*  Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
*  Develop and commit the team to plant safety procedures
*  Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
*  Address employees' issues or grievances and organize periodic staff evaluations
*  Influence and learn from below
*  Stay up to date with latest gas production best management practices and concepts
*  Work with engineering team to develop commercial deployment plans for the RNG pilot technologies

Job Requirements

*  Engineering background with a strong understanding of energy or chemical process development. Specific experience with gas synthesis and gas purification is a plus.
*  Work experience as a technical Project Manager for complex technical projects
*  Proven managerial experience
*  Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, subcontracting, and team building)
*  Familiarity with power and gas industry standards and equipment
*  Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory and stewardship processes
*  Computer literacy
*  Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
*  Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills

Annual Salary: $120-150k DOE
