Part-Time Driver & Warehouse Assistant
Job Description
Purpose and Scope:
The Driver & Warehouse Assistant is responsible for the safe and proper loading, delivery and unloading of listed goods, with specific precautions and requirements for handling hazardous materials; carrying out the logistics of receiving, processing, storing, and sending inventory according to purchase orders and shipping schedules.
Job Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Plans out and follows the most efficient routes for delivery of goods.
- Lays out/loads items for delivery in accordance with route
- Obtains signatures/payments & arranges for recipients to make payments.
- Performs routine maintenance on delivery vehicles, such as monitoring and replenishing fluids.
- Leaves verbal messages via telephone.
- Maintains positive customer relations.
- Performs deliveries to and pick ups from area customers.
- Completes paperwork fully and completely, as required.
- Follows all company policies and procedures as listed, which are not limited to, warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000.
- Assists warehouse manager as with related warehouse duties.
Education/ Training:
- High School graduate or equivalent, required.
- Associate's degree in a technical area, or equivalent combination of work experience and education, preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)
- Able to operate communications equipment in a mobile environment (cellphone, laptop, etc.).
- Working knowledge of standard shop tools.
- Possess or obtain Commercial Driver's License with endorsement for hazardous materials.
- Forklift certified (have or will train)
- Reach truck operation, experienced or will train.
- Safety training for Spill Containment; OSHA Cert a plus
- Clean and current Driver's license (MVR check) in the applying State.
Experience:
- 1-2 Years of experience in a warehouse environment
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel, crouch and visually see.
- Able to walk, stand and climb to perform work.
- Able to sit/stand for extended long periods of time.
- Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard/iPad/laptop and calculator.
- Able to load and unload box trucks and other vehicles.
- Use forklift to move pallets and large items from warehouse to trucks.
Pay: $18/hr
