Merchandise Lead - Motorsports Industry Leader
Location: Torrance, CA
Weekly Flat Rate: $1,826.92 - $2,019.23 (DOE)
Join a dynamic team at the forefront of motorsports culture. As Merchandise Lead, you'll shape the strategy, storytelling, and execution behind client Racing's branded merchandise-blending fashion, motorsports heritage, and fan engagement into a high-performance retail experience.
Strategic Merchandise Planning
- Develop and execute merchandise strategies aligned with client Racing's brand identity and business goals
- Analyze fashion and design trends to recommend collaborations that expand audience reach
- Plan seasonal assortments, pricing strategies, and inventory levels to drive revenue and fan engagement
- Source and evaluate global merchandise partners; present options and negotiate financial agreements with vendors and client procurement
Brand Integration & Storytelling
- Collaborate with engineers and engine designers to ensure merchandise reflects clients Racing's legacy and current achievements
- Use merchandise as a storytelling platform to deepen brand loyalty among fans, collectors, and motorsport enthusiasts
- Align merchandise with marketing efforts, ensuring consistency in brand voice, tone, and guidelines across internal and external campaigns
Revenue & Performance Management
- Partner with the General Manager to define annual inventory, cost, and sales plans
- Oversee gross margin targets, budget planning, and performance metrics to ensure profitability
- Analyze sales trends and customer feedback to optimize product offerings and address slow-moving inventory
- Present monthly sales performance reports to executive leadership and monitor ongoing sales optimization
Team Leadership
- Lead the merchandise team in design execution, planning, and production
- Provide creative direction to apparel designers to fulfill brand strategy through merchandise
- Mentor merchandise planners to improve production efficiency, sourcing, and cost management
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in apparel merchandising, must be within motorsports or a lifestyle brand
- Proven success in product assortment planning, line management, and revenue growth across multiple channels
- Strong blend of financial acumen, creative merchandising, trend forecasting, and brand storytelling
- Experience collaborating across design, manufacturing, and marketing functions
- Deep understanding of client Racing, motorsports culture, and race events
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
- Skilled in sales data analysis, inventory management, and pricing strategy
- Creative thinker with strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and email communication tools
- Professional demeanor with a challenger mindset and problem-solving ability
