Job Description

The purpose of the Mechanical Inspector is to utilize the necessary tools to maintain the highest quality standards for our products. This position is responsible for approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, and recording quality results.
  • Responsible for inspection of products at various stages of the production process in accordance with the company's procedures for safety and quality.
  • Uses various measuring devices to accept, reject, and reevaluate defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Works from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawings, or inspection instructions and checklists as applicable.
  • Reads and interprets the requirements of drawings and plans.
  • Analyzes drawing requirements and makes sound determination(s) of the appropriate inspection method/equipment to be used for product acceptance.
  • Tests, measures, and analyzes mechanical products.
  • Uses all inspection/test equipment to include the usage of a Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) in determining product acceptance.
  • Constructs complex inspection set-up(s) and perform required inspections (using set-up) to determine product acceptance.
  • Is able to initiate and complete all quality (Inspection) related records and documents with minimal supervision. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and a minimum of six (6) years of experience performing critical and complex inspection are required.
  • Must be able to use calipers, micrometers, height gage, and other small hand tools.
  • Must have experience with CMMs.
  • Must be proficient with surface plate set ups.
  • Must be proficient with GD&T.
  • Experience is preferred in the following areas. Without experience, this position requires the willingness and ability to learn and/or become certified:
    • Weld Inspections
    • Calibration
    • Electrical products such as components, circuit boards (IPC-610) and cables (IPC-620)
    • Fork Lifts
    • High Work

$23-$28/hour DOE
