Job Description
A Maintenance Technician III is responsible for performing facility and process equipment preventative maintenance, attending to equipment downtime as required, and completion of various projects related to maintenance and engineering requests. This position requires 6 or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or 4 years maintenance experience with a recognized trade certification.
Job Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with all Company policies.
- Maintain personal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and recommend measures to improve health and safety within the facility.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures, and regulations including but not limited to Lock Out/Tag Out practices.
- Be an effective team player and work well with all other departments.
- Perform unplanned and planned (preventative and predictive) maintenance on production and facility equipment as required, utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record work completed.
- Make recommendations for preventative/predictive maintenance tasks to improve efficiency, equipment availability, and performance.
- Complete small electrical and/or mechanical projects as directed by Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Repair and replace electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics, and electronic components such as motors, contractors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls, and valves as directed by Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems, and complex sequencing.
- Diagnose complex electrical systems, mechanical components, pneumatic components, and controls to identify hazards, defects and need for adjustments, repairs, or programming.
- Examine, install, replace, and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
- Support and perform installation, set up, modification, and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements.
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
- Run new power supply lines to new/relocated equipment according to IEE wiring regulations, Electrical Safety Code, and Company policy.
- Wire new control panels according to supplied drawings and verbal instructions while adhering to Hydro Codes and other applicable standards and regulations.
- Make trade calculations for load requirements and select appropriate sizes/grades of components in accordance with current electrical code.
- Support the maintenance of spare parts inventory levels.
- Maintain an organized workplace that complies with housekeeping requirements.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, overnights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed.
- Must be able to lift loads upwards of 50lbs.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for daily tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and multi-task as needed.
- Knowledge of equipment set up, functions, operating procedures, and preventative maintenance techniques.
- Ability to operate hand tools and machinery such as a lathe and mill.
- Strong diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Troubleshooting experience with electrical & mechanical equipment, PLC systems, Robots, AC & DC drives, servo drives, motion control, HMI interface, motor controls, safety sensors, and relays.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, and ladder/function block logic.
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
- Knowledge of facility equipment (HVAC, Air Compressor, Air Dryer, etc.) preferred.
- Basic knowledge of single and 3-Phase electrical systems preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional team members.
- Mechanical aptitude/interest.
Education and/or Experience
- 6 years or more of maintenance experience, or 4 years of experience with one of the following:
- 309A - Electrician - Construction & Maintenance
- 433A - Industrial Mechanic
Preferred:
- Deep knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Comprehensive command of maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Forklift and/or scissor lift certification or experience.
Pay: $30-$40/hr
