Job Description
This role is responsible for overseeing the availability and control of maintenance parts and supplies, including critical, unique, and spare components. The Maintenance Inventory Specialist ensures smooth procurement processes and accurate inventory management to support both maintenance activities and production operations. This person will also contribute to cost-efficient inventory practices while maintaining readiness for operational demands.
Job Requirements
Primary Duties:
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of maintenance components required for repairs and production support
- Place orders for parts and supplies based on maintenance needs
- Balance service levels and cost considerations when managing stock
- Gather pricing from suppliers for standard and special-order parts
- Generate and submit purchase orders along with necessary documentation
- Follow up on purchase orders through fulfillment and delivery
- Track consumable use and replenish stock accordingly
- Coordinate inventory levels with key internal departments
- Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for transactions, purchase orders, and receipts
- Receive and restock incoming materials using the CMMS system
- Communicate daily with the Maintenance Planner regarding high-priority spare part orders
- Assemble parts kits for scheduled maintenance and repairs
- Support technicians by locating parts or initiating special orders
- Assist with RFQ preparation by photographing or identifying parts, as needed
Core Skills:
- Highly organized with strong multitasking capabilities
- Proficient in computer systems and software
- Mechanically inclined with problem-solving skills
Preferred Characteristics:
- Self-starter who works well independently or with guidance
- Goal-oriented with attention to detail and follow-through
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to foster positive relationships with vendors and suppliers
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Hands-on experience with CMMS or ERP platforms
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance setting preferred
- Background in inventory or parts coordination is strongly desired
Pay Rate: $27 - $31/hour
