Health & Safety Officer
Job Description
Health & Safety Officer (Northern California Applicants Only) - 6 mos Project with potential for Direct Hire.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain training and certification records across various databases.
- Conduct safe work observations (SWO) and periodic safety meetings in the field.
- Review incident reports and support investigation efforts.
- Prepare and manage project-related health & safety documents, including HASPs and field binders.
- Collect and analyze data on near-misses, incidents, stop works, and safety observations.
- Oversee subcontractor HSE qualification documentation.
- Perform root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct weekly safety audits and field inspections to ensure compliance.
- Develop Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for project tasks.
- Collaborate with regional management to support health & safety programs.
- Provide training and administrative support for superintendents and field teams.
- Assist in tracking HSE & KPI metrics to measure safety performance.
- Respond to pre-qualification questionnaires and compliance inquiries.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, construction safety, and OSHA requirements.
- Familiarity with industrial hygiene, COC awareness, and action levels.
- Experience with behavior-based safety programs and health & safety plans.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent public speaking and communication abilities for client and agency interactions.
- Ability to multi-task, take initiative, and lead by example in a team environment.
- Experience working across management and field personnel levels.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 5 years of equivalent industry experience.
- Expertise in engineering and environmental construction safety.
- Certifications in Title 17 Lead CDPH, BAAQMD Rule 8, OSHA #500 & 510 preferred.
Physical & Work Environment:
- Frequent travel within Northern California for site visits and audits.
- Ability to climb stairs while carrying equipment (up to 10 lbs.).
- Work indoors and outdoors in varied seasonal conditions.
Pay Rate Range: $43 - $53 DOE
