Groundskeeper - Cemetery Services
Job Description
Groundskeeper - Full Time | $22-$28/hr
Must have backhoe experience!
Location: Cerritos, CA
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (occasional weekends/holidays)
Pay: $24–$26/hour depending on experience
We're hiring a Groundskeeper I with backhoe experience to join a stable, team-driven operation focused on maintaining clean, safe, and well-kept grounds and facilities. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their work, shows up consistently, and can operate equipment safely and efficiently.
What you'll be doing
You'll support daily grounds maintenance, site preparation, and interment services while ensuring the property is maintained to high standards. This includes operating equipment, maintaining landscaping, and assisting with on-site services when needed.
Key responsibilities
Prepare equipment, tools, and materials for daily work
Maintain lawns, landscaping, and outdoor areas
Remove debris and ensure grounds are clean, safe, and presentable
Prune trees, shrubs, and vegetation
Support site setup and breakdown for scheduled services
Assist with opening and closing interment sites
Operate equipment including mowers, trimmers, and backhoe as needed
Maintain irrigation systems and general site upkeep
Perform basic janitorial duties across facilities
Remove graffiti, signage, and unauthorized materials
Follow all safety protocols and district procedures

Job Requirements
What you need
High school diploma or GED preferred
At least 6 months of experience in landscaping or groundskeeping
Hands-on experience with landscaping equipment and machinery
Experience operating a backhoe, tractor, or similar equipment
Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and extended standing

Compensation & Benefits:
Pay: $22-$25/hr (DOE)
Once perm - Pay could increase up to $28/hr
Full-time | 40 hours per week
