Environmental Health & Safety Manager
Job Description
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs that support a safe, compliant, and sustainability-focused workplace. This role drives safety performance, ensures regulatory alignment, and strengthens a culture of accountability across all levels of the organization.
In addition to overseeing core EHS functions, this position plays a critical role in advancing environmental sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include reducing environmental impact, improving resource efficiency, and supporting operational strategies that align with renewable-energy and clean-manufacturing goals. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the EHS Manager will lead efforts that enhance environmental performance across manufacturing operations.
Job Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Environmental Management
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international environmental regulations and standards. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting aligned with environmental management practices.
- Support the facility's requirements under Integrated Management Systems related to ISO 45001 (Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental), ensuring ongoing adherence and continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain procedures that reduce environmental impact and support long-term sustainability goals.
- Design and manage waste-reduction, recycling, and resource-efficiency programs.
- Partner with production teams to optimize material use and minimize waste.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and provide recommendations for sustainable solutions.
- Integrate environmental considerations into operational and strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on renewable-energy integration opportunities and energy-efficiency improvements.
- Lead initiatives that reduce the facility's overall carbon footprint.
Health & Safety Management
- Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement preventive measures.
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions that address systemic contributors.
- Ensure safety protocols are embedded into daily operations through strong partnerships with department leaders.
- Deliver safety training and coach employees on safe work practices. Maintain accurate records of training, incidents, and safety-related activities.
- Monitor regulatory updates and industry best practices to maintain continuous compliance and improvement.
- Coordinate programs such as emergency response, first aid, and ergonomic assessments.
- Serve as a point of contact for safety inquiries and concerns, ensuring timely resolution and employee engagement.
- Foster a strong safety culture and support employee participation in safety committees and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in environmental and sustainability working groups, contributing to team-driven initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of EHS professionals, encouraging diverse perspectives and professional growth.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum 7 years of EHS management experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Experience supporting or maintaining Integrated Management Systems aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and demonstrated success implementing sustainable practices.
- Experience developing, modeling, and leading Human Performance Improvement initiatives is preferred.
- Experience in solar, clean-energy, or related manufacturing environments is preferred.
