Mechanical Engineer - Part time
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our team in designing, developing, and improving machinery and equipment that meet and exceed customer expectations. This role involves hands-on engineering work, from concept through production, including prototyping, testing, and documentation. Familiarity with water equipment standards is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop machinery and mechanical systems using CAD and Inventor software
- Create and manage bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing drawings
- Develop and test prototypes, analyze performance, and implement revisions
- Identify deficiencies in mechanical processes and propose effective improvements
- Initiate and manage engineering projects through all phases—from concept to completion
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams to ensure alignment and execution
- Prepare detailed documentation, including technical manuals, critical analysis reports, and corrective recommendations
- Maintain awareness of industry standards, especially in water equipment applications
- Estimate project timelines, delivery dates, and manage schedules for upcoming releases
Job Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years mechanical engineering experience
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles
- Proficiency in CAD, Inventor, and other mechanical design tools
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Creative problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Commercial awareness and understanding of target users and market needs
- Ability to follow direction and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Experience in machinery or equipment design
- Familiarity with water equipment standards
- Background in manufacturing environments and product lifecycle management
20 hours per week
$45 - $58/hr DOE
Possibility of full-time hours in future
