Electrical Engineering DVT and Support Engineer

Job Description

Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical Engineering DVT & Support Engineer at their Irvine, CA location. In this role, the candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative spacecraft solutions for internal and external customers.
 
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct PCBA/Module Level design validation (Operation, Characterization and Performance) to specification.
  • Responsible for documentation of test plan and test reports.
  • Develop and execute Design Verification Test plans and procedures for new and revised designs.
  • Assemble / Define evaluation (Harnesses, equipment, etc.) requirements for DVT.
  • Troubleshoot the system failures encountered during DVT and analyze root cause for the failures (hardware and software).
  • Work with development team to aid fixing the failures encountered during system DVT.
  • Review design documents (Schematics, requirements, hardware description document) as well as system documents to aid troubleshooting during system DVT.
  • Conduct Design verification test (DVT) to assure full coverage.
  • Document setup and equipment used.
  • Document failures.
  • DVT Results data collection and report creation.
  • Conduct formal DVT Results review for approval.
  • Evaluation and validation of design changes (Hardware, component, firmware, etc.). Perform Verification and Validation of electrical components for hardware changes based on technical and functional requirements.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support to production group as needed for product support.
  • Support development of test fixtures and tools for use.
  • Work with AIT Engineers to implement automation of test procedures.
  • Support and set up new product introductions.
                Perform all other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years of experience of testing and debugging embedded hardware development experience (Aerospace-specific experience is preferred)
  • Knowledge of common data bus peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet).
  • Competency with standard test equipment: oscilloscope, power supply, multi-meter, logic analyzer.
  • Ability to rework circuit boards with surface mount technology.
  • A working knowledge of hardware and system debug practices.
  • Experience with debugging and evaluation of system failures.
  • Ability to read schematics and be able to relate it to the PCB Design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Energy and passion to invent and create new solutions, challenge the status quo and drive positive change
  • Ability and willingness to go above and beyond one's comfort zone when it comes to learning about other technologies and applications.

Salary range $140K - $170K DOE
