Purpose:

This is a full-time on-site role for a Field Engineer/Installation Technician specializing in Public Safety DAS (ERCES). The Field Engineer/Installation Technician will be responsible for BDA turn ups, field site inspections/permit inspections, Signal walk testing, troubleshooting, providing field service and technical support, as well as managing projects. The role will involve working on-site in Austin, TX.

 

This candidate should be able to Work independently; the candidate should have the ability to manage projects if required. Utilize radio frequency principles and equipment to interpret and evaluate surveys, layout, and manage in-building public safety communication systems. They are responsible for ensuring system evaluation, quality, acceptance, and complete documentation. They are required to be proficient at completing the project and providing all the project deliverables required. This position should also be able to assist in construction if needed. The field engineer will be customer-facing and represent MIS in all aspects of the services being provided.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Defining the Project Scope of work
  • Understand requirements and obtain authorization to proceed from the FCC licensee.
  • Understand requirements and obtain authorization to proceed from the AHJ.
  • Evaluating RF Signal Strength and Quality
  • Determine and obtain test equipment.
  • Identify sources of potential RF interferences.
  • Grade and document RF signal strength and quality test results.
  • Understand System Design and Layout
  • Provide parameters for system design applications.
  • Validate selected system equipment (BDA and non-BDA solutions)
  • Plan headend (e.g., physical layout, structural, and architectural construction considerations).
  • Review and finalize system layout.
  • Validate bill of materials (BOM)
  • Execute permit process.
  • Performing Commissioning, Acceptance Test, and Maintenance Activities
  • Complete acceptance process. 
  • Ability to represent MIS to the customer in a professional manner while on site.
  • Ability to lead and direct Technicians and apprentices in all aspects of DAS installation.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in field service and project management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience in the infrastructure, telecommunications, or energy industry is a plus
  • BDA
  • ERCES-NICET level 2 certification preferred, not required for hire.

Compensation: $80K-$95K
