Job Description
Environmental Lead Civil Laborer
Location: Concord, CA
Pay Rate: up to $40+/hour (DOE)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Our client is a fully integrated environmental construction firm that delivers turnkey, self-perform solutions to complex environmental challenges involving soil, vapor, air, and water-including groundwater, stormwater, and water/wastewater systems. Serving both public and private sector clients, their diverse service offerings include:
- Soil and groundwater remediation
- Decommissioning and demolition
- Sensitive habitat and waterway restoration
- Water, wastewater, and air pollution treatment
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Laborer/Technician with environmental construction experience to support field operations. This role involves performing general labor tasks on-site to assist project teams in delivering safe, high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain dust control by watering stockpiles and truck routes
- Direct site traffic to ensure safety and proper routing
- Spot heavy equipment operators to maintain safe work zones
- Perform utility identification through potholing
- Operate hand tools and light construction equipment (e.g., shovel, digging bar)
- Follow and promote safe work practices at all times
- Keep job sites clean and free of debris
- Secure excavation areas to meet safety standards
- Support Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) compliance
- Maintain clear communication with crew members
- Perform daily manual labor tasks as directed by the Superintendent
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Positive attitude and willingness to follow direction
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and hazard recognition
- Team-oriented with a proactive, self-starting mindset
- Experience in heavy civil construction required
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER or 8-Hour Refresher preferred (training can be provided)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands
- Occasionally required to sit, reach, and lift/move up to 50 lbs
- Visual acuity for close work and ability to adjust focus
- Outdoor work environment with exposure to large construction equipment
- Must be safety-conscious and able to work in physically demanding conditions
