Commercial Property Accountant

Full-Time | Onsite | Monday-Friday
Salary: $80,000
A well-established organization is seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Property Accountant to support the financial operations of a diverse commercial real estate portfolio. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reporting packages, supporting budgeting activities, and partnering with operational teams to ensure strong financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for assigned properties.
  • Maintain general ledger activity, complete account reconciliations, and support monthly close processes.
  • Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Monitor lease activity, tenant billings, recoveries, and other property-related accounting transactions.
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports for management and ownership.
  • Support audits, tax reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve accounting questions and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain organized financial records and ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property management.
  • Experience with property accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and commercial property accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
