CNC Engineer (Numerical Controls)

Job Description
The NC System Engineer's role is to create and maintain the architecture of CATIA V5-based computer numerical control (CNC) programming, as well l as to lead strategic projects focusing on increasing CNC program quality, standardization of work, and increased departmental throughput. Performance in this role will be measured through the achievement of project schedules and first pass yield of released programs.
Our customer is a leading provider of critical structural components and assemblies for the aerospace and defense industry. With 230,000 square feet under roof and over 130 available spindles, including 31 large bed multi-spindle gantries. Full-service capabilities include complex machining, large part capability, state of the art NC programming, engineering support, advanced assembly, benching, forming, drilling and more.
Job Requirements
Requirements and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in CNC programming, including 5-axis and horizontal
- Must be proficient in programming and modeling in CATIA VS
- Must be proficient in Vericut NC verification software
- Experience with tool management system (TMS) software (Wintool, TDM, Zoller), including implementation
- Working knowledge of Aerospace NC cutting tool standards and NC controllers
- Experience with SQL database tools and reports
- US Persons ITAR Regulations required
Expert ability to follow up and follow through on all tasks, attention to detail and accuracy is required
Establishes high standards for self and others and knows how to positively motivate internal and external stakeholders to achieve those same standards.
Job Duties
On a day-to-day basis this person will be responsible for the following functions:
- Responsible for ongoing development and implementation of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software tools
- Lead strategic NC systems projects, including but not limited to:
- Postprocessor automation (cutter checks, safe blocks)
- TMS system implementation and CAM integration
- Runbook modernization and CAM integration
- Product lifecycle management (PLM) > direct numerical control (DNC) integration
- Posted program parameter validation
- Create and maintain process and validation template files
- Oversee model-based definition (MOB) validation
- Set standards for and documentation for NC programming practices
Educational Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar Engineering discipline required
