Job Description
Design Engineer (Gear, Jigs & Fixtures) - Motorsports Industry Leader
Location: Santa Clarita, CA
Hourly Rate: $38-$48 (DOE)
Join a world-class motorsports engineering team in Santa Clarita, CA, where innovation meets precision. We're seeking a Design Engineer with expertise in gears, jigs, and fixtures to support high-performance vehicle development and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop 2D and 3D models of automotive components, including jigs, fixtures, and gear systems for dyno test cells
- Contribute to a variety of vehicle programs, from pinnacle motorsports to commercial platforms
- Support electrification and engine test cell design as needed
- Apply surfacing CAD techniques for aerodynamic body components (preferred)
- Collaborate on aftermarket part design and engineering for road vehicles (preferred)
- Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis) on jig and fixture designs
- Prepare and release detailed engineering drawings and documentation
- Coordinate with manufacturing and quality teams for prototype and production builds
Tools & Software:
- Proficient in CATIA V6 and 3DExperience
- Strong surfacing CAD skills a plus
- Skilled in PC workstation hardware and Microsoft Office tools
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience in 2D/3D modeling and FEA for gears, jigs, and fixtures
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply standard codes
- Knowledge of mechanical and cost calculations, raw material codes, and design theory
- Strong project management, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communicator with the ability to work independently
